I don't know about pricing yet. I just started thinking about how to make the body hollow so it is not a 20lb toy. I think the body right now could easily take a gallon of resin to fill. If I make a roto-cast machine and get some resin that sets up slowly or figure out how to work with vinyl and a rotocast I wold be golden.

We shall see how it plays out. Pricing wont happen till March when I see how much materials each monster will actually take.

Probably a bit expensive, but Veracious Vinyl should be cranking out rotocast vinyl right here in the states soon enough... http://www.vinylpulse.com/2011/01/made- ... vinyl.html

Yeah, I think it's an especially big deal for indie people looking for pro results, could be a real game-changer in the scene.

I have been making a bit of progress on the monster. I will be deciding on a name this week from all who entered the contest. I ran out of orange and bought some red for fun. Here is where I am at.

What's left is arms and feet then I need to create a rotocast machine to make t he body and eyes. All the other pieces will be solid cast resin including the joints. I am still shooting for end of January to complete the sculpt. After its done I need to scrape up some cash to buy mold silicone and resin.
enjoy.

I finished the internal structure of 1 arm with a shoulder and elbow hinge I still need to create a wrist pivot. I will try and get pics posted tomorrow. If I like them I should be able to get one arm skinned this weekend.

At some point I need to make some feet.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

Here is what I am doing for joints and arms. Once the sculpt is complete I will be able to add the barbs to the ends so they snap in to the sockets.

Are those joints from scratch? If so, you definitely need to post a tutorial. I was trying to make joints from scratch but gave up after putting in more hours than I care to remember.

Ya they are from scratch. $10 of junk from the Hardware store, a hack saw and my cordless drill. I will take some close ups when I pull everything apart to cast in resin.

This is a totally fascinating step-by-step. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the final product looks.
Keep up the good work.
.
I have to admit though, when i saw the shape of your core at the start i did snigger as i thought it looked a bit like a cock.

The only issues will be the tear down. I need to find a way for the sockets to come out easily. I may need to break them apart now and stick them together with something less perminent. I used super glue and it was probably not the best idea.
