Forum rules

A forum for those artists who would like a more critical critique of their work, apposed to a "that's cool" and a smiley.

A Guide to Positive Critiques (adapted from PoetryPlease)

• Does not solely concentrate on a pieces weak points, but tempers constructive criticism with acknowledgment of the good features.
• Is not made up of comments like “well done” or emoticons, as they do not explain why the piece is well done. Comments and emoticons belong in the introduction and summary only.
• A knowledge of technical artistist terms is desirable, but not necessary, to be able to provide constructive criticism.
• Try to keep your thoughts focused on the piece and how it affects you as the viewer.
• Explain why you liked or disliked the piece; don’t just state the emotion it triggered.
• Describe which elements are good, and how they enhance the piece.
• Describe which elements of the piece need improving and politely offer alternatives that can improve the work.
• Please include an honest, but polite, summary in your critique.

Please remember that even if you do not like a custom, or it has numerous faults, keep your comments polite and positive. Always offer alternatives. To merely tear something down and not offer a better alternative is merely destruction.

By concentrating on the piece, and not the artist, we will help each other improve. By concentrating on form rather than content we not only help other artists, but ourselves as well, by learning where our own weaknesses may lie.

Hey, so i'm lost on these two dunnys...

If anyone has some suggestions for ideas to finish them, that would be awesome.

first one has been sitting here for over a year, and i have no clue what to do for the body. it was originally going to be a bloody stump, but it didn't work out. The paint on this one is pretty much finished...

Then there is this one, which looked awesome on paper, but the dunny head didn't work out . I might try it over again, but i'm open to some suggestions. This one has a miniature circus tent accessory.

any comments or suggestions or ideas to finish them would be great!!! thanks :CTUarmy:

stupid question , but have you thought about putting the two together?....the colors are pretty much there on both..also looking at the tentacle arms and then the center of the above eye looking similar in shape i think you could pull it off with combining the two......unless youre looking to specifically keep them as two separate customs

I would suggest changing the finished paint though a bit on the first head though...like adding some of the texture either to the body from the head or vice versa...I "Think" it would look good...but dont quote me on that

haha! yeah i actually put the head on the body probably every day and ponder it for a minute. been doing that for quite a while now. and i always think about changing the colors of the dots on the body to match the head, but maybe changing the colors of the stripes on the head to match the dots? they are similar in color, but when i put them together they look off (probably because of the colors).

maybe i'll do that... paint the stripes on the head brigher colors like the bottom dots?

Well, to me they are mostly similar, but this is coming from a pastel colorblind artist haha....but I think you could probably pull it off...and more so now that you have even pondered with the idea before and me having suggested something you have already thought of....well shit man...its gotta be worth a shot now hahah

Wow these two pieces are super awesome! Hm but while I agree that putting the head with the body would make a kick butt piece, I see them more as individual pieces. I was staring at each one for the longest time, imagining their other half, and this is what I thought up of.
The head makes me think of some kind of overseeing entity; if that was my piece, I would continue the colourul stripes you have on the side the head down the body, and then have little elongated, pointy people with the same colours the fuzzy looking part of the head. When i saw the head, I saw a head perceiving some redwhiteblack things the eye was seeing.
For the body, I see scary forest with river. So maybe you could make a hole in a dunny's face and make it all shadowy and scary, with a stream of water flowing out, down the body. The head's design could make like scenery.

But that's just me! Thanks for reading! I'm a huge fan of yours!:)

first picture, give it a black body, so it would look like a floating head...

Second one, extend the neck on it, and/or give it a snake head
