Forum rules

A forum for those artists who would like a more critical critique of their work, apposed to a "that's cool" and a smiley.

A Guide to Positive Critiques (adapted from PoetryPlease)

• Does not solely concentrate on a pieces weak points, but tempers constructive criticism with acknowledgment of the good features.
• Is not made up of comments like “well done” or emoticons, as they do not explain why the piece is well done. Comments and emoticons belong in the introduction and summary only.
• A knowledge of technical artistist terms is desirable, but not necessary, to be able to provide constructive criticism.
• Try to keep your thoughts focused on the piece and how it affects you as the viewer.
• Explain why you liked or disliked the piece; don’t just state the emotion it triggered.
• Describe which elements are good, and how they enhance the piece.
• Describe which elements of the piece need improving and politely offer alternatives that can improve the work.
• Please include an honest, but polite, summary in your critique.

Please remember that even if you do not like a custom, or it has numerous faults, keep your comments polite and positive. Always offer alternatives. To merely tear something down and not offer a better alternative is merely destruction.

By concentrating on the piece, and not the artist, we will help each other improve. By concentrating on form rather than content we not only help other artists, but ourselves as well, by learning where our own weaknesses may lie.

Well a while back I noticed mighty muggs and the fact of being able to customize them. So I decided to just give one a shot. I took a snake eyes base and worked ontop of that. I wanted to create a deadpool, yeah everyone has done one but I didnt have one so thats why I did it. Wanted to put my own spin on it.

This is the first time I have tried to customize anything. But I think it turned out fairly well, and have learned some things for the next customs I do.

Its not completely finished. Gotta work on the details with the belts/weapons/sheaths and all.

Just wanted to get peoples opinions on this forum about it. So I know how to improve for my other customs!

That's amazing for your first custom. The paint is great on the body. It seems a bit heavy on the face, but that would be an easy fix on your next custom. I'm not really a big fan of foam, but it definitely has a Liefeld feel.

I think this is great for a first go. Definitely better than mine:)
I do not have any criticisms, except that I think this particular style would look more pro if you had used a spray application for most of the painting.
Unless you are working on something where you are pointedly trying to achieve a textured surface, when you are working in these bold, cartoon-y styles, the painting, in my opinion, works more if it is uniform.
You obviously have the talent to work in different ways and I think you should give it a shot if you have not yet tried it.
Also, if you made the accessories, they are amazing!
