I'll have my very first solo show opening up on May 12th here in Seattle! Woohoo!!!! Come on by to he Capitol Hill Artwalk to see a bundle of new works - paintings, prints, handcast resin, custom toys and BEER and CUPCAKES!

'Monsters, Cupcakes and Monster Cupcakes' will showcase paintings and toys from Seattle based character designer Jon Malmstedt - RAMPAGE TOYS! Jon's work focuses on fun and colorful creatures that just so happen to be monsters. Expect scenes of urban destruction a' la the classic films 'Godzilla' and 'Mothra', but with a bent in the direction of silly - instead of Godzilla think 'giant cupcake that has no arms.' The show will include paintings, custom vinyl toys, handcast resin figures and a couple collaborative pieces done with the Cakespy herself - something for anyone who loves monsters, cupcakes, monster cupcakes or all of the above! Oh, and need we mention that actual, real, edible and delicious CUPCAKES will be in attendance? YUMMY!!!'

OK, a bit slow... I'm no good at the all around internetting... Anyway - here are some pics of the gallery space. The opening was fun - I hope any locals who didn't make it will head over and check it out before I break it down in a week and a half (or so).

Just this morning I put the sticker that had been sitting on my nightstand on my toolbox.
Sorry I never made it back to the show to pick up the luchadores, btw (I got hung up in Babeland trying to find a dildo for an upcoming custom, then by the time I got to the other end of the walk it was too late to walk back. Which is a shame as the prospect of a back-alley toy transaction definitely held a certain appeal to me.) (I did score a chocolate-dripped Buddha, though).
Anyway, yours was easily the coolest show of the Artwalk. Keep pumping that funny-ass-shit out, because the rest of Seattle's art scene looks as if it is submitting it's thesis for the double major of Feminism in the early 90's/Serious Liberal Art that is Liberal and Serious and Get's All of It's Ideas from 30 - 40 Years Ago, and it all just makes me want to move to Hawaii where the only art is pottery.

Oh and totally agree that wall decals (for actual walls, not cyber) would be sweet. Like FatHeads.

There are AMAZING toy artists here, but their art is not SHOWN here... Everyone goes to Portlanf and San Francisco... That's one reason why I'm OUTTA here and going to Japan! YEEEEHAAAAW!!!!

Anyway, it was fun to do it up for this show before the big move. I really ahd a b;last working on the paintings and the wall-art! And if anyone wants to hire me to paint their wall...
