Forum rules

A forum for those artists who would like a more critical critique of their work, apposed to a "that's cool" and a smiley.

A Guide to Positive Critiques (adapted from PoetryPlease)

• Does not solely concentrate on a pieces weak points, but tempers constructive criticism with acknowledgment of the good features.
• Is not made up of comments like “well done” or emoticons, as they do not explain why the piece is well done. Comments and emoticons belong in the introduction and summary only.
• A knowledge of technical artistist terms is desirable, but not necessary, to be able to provide constructive criticism.
• Try to keep your thoughts focused on the piece and how it affects you as the viewer.
• Explain why you liked or disliked the piece; don’t just state the emotion it triggered.
• Describe which elements are good, and how they enhance the piece.
• Describe which elements of the piece need improving and politely offer alternatives that can improve the work.
• Please include an honest, but polite, summary in your critique.

Please remember that even if you do not like a custom, or it has numerous faults, keep your comments polite and positive. Always offer alternatives. To merely tear something down and not offer a better alternative is merely destruction.

By concentrating on the piece, and not the artist, we will help each other improve. By concentrating on form rather than content we not only help other artists, but ourselves as well, by learning where our own weaknesses may lie.

Welcome :D

As I told you before, I love what you've done with the figure so far. I think I'd need a little bit more information about what your plan is with the figure to give you any feed back :D

I agree...I like what you've done so far but what are you planning to achieve with the finished piece? are you adding color? etc.... as a side...Im not digging what ever that is on the nose...not sure if you did it or what but that squiggle needs to go. And I think it needs a lil something on the other half of the helmet to tie it in better. you have it working on up at an angle and then both arms but then the helmet is really minimal and it stands out to me as something is missing. Take it for what its worth..I'm diggin it so far though

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not entirely sure how I want it myself but I know I don't want to overdo it so it doesn't glow very well. Definitely going to do some more work on the helmet and the back of the figure.

The squiggle was where I was considering a military type moustache like an English General type, but now I'm not sure.

I guess I'll do some more and repost.

Cheers,

David

I agree with Matt, I think it would look better without a mustache.

Sick work man!! I would go the other route and put a moustache on him, something that curls up at the edges!

I think it would totally make that face you got going! Other than that, looks dope. Cant wait to see what you decide!

Thanks for the feedback all. RawbsOne, That's kind of what I had in mind, to stand him out a bit from other TTs, but yeah I think first I need to get him to a more finished state then see what you all reckon.

It's hard to see in the pics but he's black and white so I want to put some more white detail in too. I'll post some more pics when I've done more, got some commissions to finish!
